Designated hitter Jim Thome agreed to a one-year deal that will keep him with the Minnesota Twins after he helped the team win the American League Central Division in 2010.

The deal will pay the 40-year-old Thome $3 million and includes performance bonuses, Major League Baseball reported on their official website (www.mlb.com).

The five-times All-Star hit .283 with 25 home runs in 108 games last year. He is 11 home runs shy of becoming the eighth Major Leaguer to hit 600 homers.
