Twitter users mourned the announcement that Hostess is going out of business, which means no more Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos or Wonder Bread.

With striking workers on the picket line, the company could not stop from going under and filing for bankruptcy, NBC reported.

“We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” Hostess CEO Gregory F. Rayburn said in a statement.

Rayburn said the company had filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to shut down its business. “Hostess Brands will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,500-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders,” he said.

“This is it,” Rayburn added. "This is the end to Hostess and the iconic products people have enjoyed since 1930."
