Police say the death of Tyron Perez was an apparent suicide, as the Filipino actor was found dead in his car Thursday night in the Philippines.

Perez, 26, was found dead inside his black Toyota Altis Thursday night in Valenzuela City, Philippines in the backseat with a gunshot wound.

Police said the body was found with a gunshot wound in his right temple from a caliber .22 firearm, which was found besides Perez's body, ruling his death an apparent suicide.

A friend, Alvin Salazar, told GMA that Perez had mentioned his plans to commit suicide earlier that day on Thursday, saying Perez had admitted to Salazar's wife while staying in their home. However, Salazar said they did not notice anything unusual about Perez, despite his confession of suicidal thoughts.

According to ABS-CNB News in Philippines, authorities found Perez dead in his parked vehicle alongside a highway in Ugong village and are investigating for foul play.

A native of Tarlac, Philippines, Perez was on GMA-7's reality talent competition Starstruck in 2003 before landing a role on Mula sa Puso and appeared on an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya on Dec. 3. Perez also had a role in the 2006 film Twilight Dancers.
