Shares of UAL Corp , parent of United Airlines, jumped more than 4 percent after the bell on Wednesday after The New York Times reported that the company was in merger talks with US Airways Group Inc , citing people briefed on the matter.

UAL Corp shares were last trading at $20 after-hours, up from their Nasdaq close of $18.95, while US Airways shares climbed more than 13 percent to $7.75, up from their New York Stock Exchange close of $6.82.
