Friday, the Office for National Statistics said UK's service sector output dropped 1.2% in the three months to February compared with a 1.3% fall in the previous three months.

The ONS said four of the five components of the service sector decreased in output. Hotel and restaurant output dropped 2.9% in the three months to February, while transport and communication declined 1.3%. The most significant decrease was in business services and finance, down 2.4%. At the same time, output from distribution decreased 0.1%.

On a monthly basis, the service sector output fell 0.4% in February. Output from distribution declined 1.1%.
