FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Mortgage lending has recovered somewhat in December, although still at levels well below the average of the second half of 2007, the volume of mortgage approvals, however, has declined somewhat, according to data released by the British Bankers' association.

Mortgage lending increased to 4.7 billion pound in December, from 4.6 billion in November, the six-month average totals 5.2 billion pound.

Mortgage approvals declined to 42.100 in December from 43.900 in November, November's figure has been revised down from the initially estimated 44.800.
