U.K. CPI unexpectedly rose to 3.5% in the year ended March compared with both prior and expected readings of 3.4%. On the monthly basis, the reading came in line with predictions of 0.3% from February's reading of 0.6%. Annual Core CPI came in at 2.5%, above forecasts of 2.3% and the prior of 2.4%.

Annual RPI matched forecasts of 3.6% from the previous of 3.7%, while on the month it also came similar to estimates of 0.4% compared to the prior of 0.8%. The yearly reading excluding mortgage initial payment inched down to 3.7%, in line with analyst's anticipations, from the preceding of 3.8%.
