UK Falls Into Double-Dip Recession: Report
The U.K. economy fell into a double-dip recession in the first quarter when GDP shrank 0.3 percent, according to the government's Office for National Statistics.
The drop in first quarter GDP follows a fourth quarter 2011 contraction of 0.3 percent. Two consecutive quarters of GDP contraction is the generally accepted definition of a recession.
