FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Industrial production has declined in the UK in March, against the experts' expectations, weighed by the significant decrease in the output of transport equipment, according to data released by National Statistics.
Industrial production has declined 0.5% in March, a sharper than expected decline, analysts expected production to edge down 0.1%. On the year, industrial production increased 0.2%, down from the 1.3% increase posted in February.
The more specific manufacturing output has fallen 0.5% on the month, a 0% performance was expected, while it grew 0.6% on the year, down from the 1.9% yearly increase posted last year.
Generally speaking, the 1.3% decline in the output of transport equipment industries, has not been offset as there have not been any significant increases posted in other sectors.
