The ONS reported today abysmal jobs figures for U.K. in April as the labor market conditions continued to worsen adding more downside pressures on the recovery.

The Jobless Claims in April rose unexpectedly by 12.4 thousand following a revised 6.4 thousand from 0.7 thousand and opposed the expected flat change. The claimant count accordingly rose to 4.6% from the previous and expected 4.5%.

The ILO Unemployment rate in the three months through March unexpectedly dropped to 7.7% from the previous and expected 7.8%. The Average Weekly Earnings rose 2.3% on the year from a revised 2.1% from 2.0%. Excluding bonuses they fell to 2.1% from the previous and expected 2.2%.
