The British economy released its labor data report, showing that the number of people filing for jobless claims surged in July by 37.1 thousand, compared with the revised previous 31.3 thousand from 24.5 and was worse than expectations of 20.0 thousand.

The claimant count rate for the month of July rose to 4.9% compared with the revised previous of 4.8% from 4.7% and market expectations for 4.7%.

ILO Unemployment through the three months ending in June unexpectedly rose to 7.9% from the previous and expectations of 7.7%, while the average weekly earnings reached 2.6%, compared with 2.3% previous and expectations; the Weekly Earnings excluding bonuses reached 2.2% from 2.1% and below the expected 2.3%.
