RTTNews - Monday, a report from the Bank of England said the number of mortgages approved in the U.K. was 43,414 in May versus 43,191 in April. This was larger than the previous six-month average of 35,670, but stood below the expected level of 46,000.

Both net lending secured on dwellings and consumer credit increased GBP 0.3 billion each in May. Net lending secured on dwelling recorded an annual growth of 1.3%, smaller than the 1.5% rise seen in April. At the same time, net consumer credit rose at a slower pace of 2.3% compared to 2.8% in April.
