RTTNews - Tuesday, a report from the Bank of England said the number of loans approved for house purchases in the U.K. increased to 43,201 in April from 40,038 in March. The April level was higher than the previous six months average of 33,845 and 41,000 expected by economists.
The increase in total net lending to individuals in April was GBP 1.3 billion, but below the previous six-month average of GBP 1.4 billion. Meanwhile, net lending secured on dwellings rose GBP 1 billion, compared to GBP 0.6 billion in March and GBP 1.1 billion six months average.
Further, consumer credit and credit card lending increased GBP 0.3 billion each in April. Annual growth in consumer credit slowed to 2.9% from 3.1% in March.
