UK public finances (PSNCR) showed a surplus of 14.4 billion pounds in January, compared with the prior deficit of 25.5 billion pounds, which was revised to 25.4 billion pounds; while analysts expected a surplus of 6.0 billion pounds.

Public sector net borrowing for the same month showed a surplus of 5.3 billion relative to the revised 14.5 billion pounds from the initial deficit of 15.3 billion pounds, while market expectations were set at a surplus of 0.3 billion pounds.
