FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Retail price index rose by 0.3% in September in United Kingdom, while on yearly basis it rose by 3.9%, according to the latest report by National Statistics.
Market expectations were a higher increase of 0.4% on the month and a 4.0% rise in the year to September. The results are also down from August's readings, the index had increased by 0.6% on monthly basis and 4.1% on the year.
The largest downward contribution to the index came from mortgage interest payments, fares and other travel costs and fuel and light. The largest upward contributors were seen in motoring expenditure, food and household goods.
