U.K. retail sales excluding auto fuel rose to 0.5% in May from 0.1% revised downwards to -0.1%, above the forecasted reading of 0.1%. On the year, the reading inclined to 3.4% compared with the revised 2.4% from 3.0%, yet lower than estimates of 3.5%.

The reading including auto fuel advanced to 0.6% from 0.3% revised to 0.0%, while analysts expected 0.1%. Annually, the reading soared to 2.2% relative to the preceding 1.8% revised to 1.3%, higher than projections of 2.0%.
