FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Retail sales volume has increase more than twice as expected in January fuelled by sales in food and household stores, according to the latest data by National Statistics.

From December to January, retail sales volume has increased 0.8%, in the United Kingdom, instead of the 0.3% increase expected. The main reasons for that increase have been the 0.7% monthly increase in food store sales, and the 4.3% increase of household goods store sales, the largest increase since August 2006.

On the three months to January, retail sales have risen 0.6%, slightly above the 0.5% increase in the three months to December
