RTTNews - Total retail sales in the United Kingdom jumped 3.2 percent on year in June, the British Retail Consortium said on Tuesday, following a 0.8 percent annual gain in May.

Same-store sales were up 1.4 percent on year in June, the data showed, far surpassing forecasts for a 0.6 percent annual increase following a 0.8 percent contraction in the previous month.

A spike in the temperature resulted in an increase in the sale of seasonal summer merchandise, the data showed.
