UK visible trade deficit reached 7532 million pounds in January compared with the prior deficit of 7111 million pounds which was revised to 7184 million pounds deficit, while analysts expected the deficit to widen to 7900 million pounds.

Trade balance non EU showed a widening deficit to 3678 million pounds from the revised 3601 million pounds which was 3748 million pounds, yet economists predicted the deficit to increase to 4300 million pounds.

Total trade shortfall deepened to 1762 million pounds from December's deficit of 1109 million pounds after it was revised down to 1217 million pounds deficit, which is better than forecasts of 1900 million pounds deficit.
