RTTNews - The State Statistics Committee of Ukraine said consumer price inflation accelerated to 15% in June from 14.7% in May. This is the first increase in inflation since February. Economists were looking for a rate of 14.3%. In June, inflation was largely led by higher prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as increased costs in the utility group.

Month-on-month, consumer prices rose 1.1% in June, faster than 0.5% in May. Economists had expected an increase of 0.6%. During the January to June period, consumer prices increased 17.6% year-on-year.

The statistical agency also released the producer price data for June. Producer prices declined 0.1% year-on-year in June, after climbing 1.9% in May. On a monthly basis, prices were up 1.4%, recovering from a 0.7% fall in May. Economists were looking for an year-on-year decline of 1.9% and a monthly gain of 0.3% for June. During the first six months of the year, producer prices rose 9.2% from a year ago.
