FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Inflation at consumer level remained steady in December at 2.1% year on year, with food and non alcoholic beverages pushing inflation higher, according to the latest report by National Statistics.
Consumer prices have risen 0.6% on the month in December, up from a 0.3% rise posted in November. On the year, CPI increased 2.1%, the same rise as in November.
The largest upward pressure came from fresh food and non alcoholic beverages, core CPI, which excludes food and energy, increased a milder 1.4% year on year. The main downward pressure came from Housing and household services as gas and electricity bills increased slower than last year.
