Police have one person in custody following a report of a possible gunman on the University of South Florida campus.

USF police requested the Tampa police's bomb team to respond regarding the individual's belongings. The request came 90 minutes after authorities say they received an off-campus call regarding a gunman near the library.

Police are not clear whether the armed suspect is linked to the earlier report.

An alert posted on USF's Web site Monday afternoon said people on campus should stay inside and lock doors while officers search the area.

Warning text messages were sent to 13,000 employees and 45,000 students, CNN reported.
