WASHINGTON (Commodity Online) : U.S. Department of Energy announced that it will work with organizations in China on joint research initiatives over the next five years.

A total of $37.5 million will be invested in the joint research, said the department, adding that around $75 million will be used for the improvement of energy efficiency, clean coal technologies, carbon sequestration and green vehicles.

Besides, a U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center will be built, with branches in both countries.

China will invest another $75 million, which will be used to develop technologies for the reduction of carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency.

As the world's two top energy consumers and energy emitters, the U.S and China announced collaboration on the field last November.
