U.S. crude fell more than $1 as markets opened on Monday on concern about slowing global economic growth and Europe's deepening sovereign debt crisis.

U.S. crude for October declined $1.02 to $86.22 a barrel at 2208 GMT, after tumbling 2 percent on Friday. Brent crude slid 87 cents to $111.90.
