The US dollar edged sharply higher against most of its major rivals on Wednesday morning in Asia.

The greenback climbed to a weekly high of 1.3214 against the euro by 8:25 pm ET and the pair is presently trading at 1.3216.

The dollar also drifted higher to 1.1462 against the Swiss franc and 1.4692 against the pound by this time and is currently worth near 1.1457 and 1.4697, respectively.

The greenback that closed Tuesday's North American deals at 1.3273 versus the euro, 1.4734 against the pound and 1.1427 against the Swiss franc is currently quoted at 1.3218, 1.4703 and 1.1457, respectively.
