US Drone Strike Kills At Least 8 People In Northwest Pakistan

A strike by a suspected U.S. drone missile killed at least eight people on Thursday in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region, according to media reports. The drone strike was the second in Pakistan in 24 hours.

At least four militants were killed Wednesday by a drone attack in the North Waziristan tribal area, CNN reported.

Drone attacks have become a contentious issue in Pakistan since local officials claim these attacks frequently kill innocent civilians, missing targeted militants. Islamabad lawmakers have denounced the attacks for killing a civilians, and they have demanded an end to the drone strikes.

The U.S. government has long targeted the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which is believed to a haven for militant groups, including the Taliban.
