The U.S. Commerce Department released the Gross Domestic Product final estimate for the first quarter of 2011, where GDP expanded by 1.9%, compared with the prior expansion of 1.8%, and in line with median estimates, as personal consumption increased by 2.2% in line with median estimates and unchanged from the prior estimates.
The GDP price index rose by 2.0%, compared with the prior and expected rise of 1.9%, while core PCE rose in the first quarter by 1.6%, above the prior and expected estimates of 1.4%.
