The U.S. Commerce Department released the Gross Domestic Product third and final reading for the fourth quarter of 2011, where the economy expanded by 3.0%, unchanged from the prior and expected reading, while personal consumption increased by 2.1% also inline with the prior reading and median estimates.

The GDP price index rose by 0.9% same as prior and expected reading, and core PCE rose in the third quarter by 1.3%, same as the prior and expected estimates.
