The U.S. Labor Department released the jobs report for the month of January, where the Non-farm payrolls showed that 36,000 jobs were added, compared with the prior revised estimate of 121,000 jobs and well below estimates of 146,000, while the unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly to 9.0%, compared with the prior and expected estimates of 9.4% and 9.5%.

Average hourly earnings rose in January by 0.4%, compared with the prior rise of 0.1% and well above estimates of 0.2%, while compared with a year earlier, average hourly earnings inclined by 1.9%, following the prior revised estimate of 1.7%. Average weekly hours declined in January to 34.2, compared with the prior and expected estimate of 34.3.
