FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Sales of new houses have increased in April for the first time since last November, although the increase has been due to the downward revision of home sales for March, according to the latest report by the Commerce Department.

US new home sales increased 3.3% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual pace of 526,000 houses from the downwardly revised 509,000 annual rate posted in March. Year on year, home sales have declined 42.0% since April 2007.

The median price of a house has increased by 1.5% to $246,100 in April from $242,500 in the same month last year, while the average price has increased 3.0% to $321,000 from $311,700.
