FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - New home sales have increased in September from a downward revised decrease in August, nevertheless, weak figures on a sector which does not enjoy the economic growth U.S. has registered in the past six quarters.

According to the Commerce Department, sales of new homes have increased 4.8% in September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 770,000 houses sold, which follows an annual rate of 735,000 homes sold posted in August, wich has been revisd down from the initial estimation; an annual rate of 795,000.

From last September, home sales have decreased by 23.3%.

The median price of a new house has increased 5.0% to $238,000 in September from the same month last year, but the average price went 2.8% down on the year to $288,000.
