FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Unemployment continues growing at a very fast pace in the United States; the jobless rate has reached in February its highest level since 1983, according to data released by the U.S. Labor Department.

U.S. non farm payrolls have declined by 651,000 in February, following a revised 655,000 decline in January, which was previously released as a 598,000 drop.

Unemployment rate has increased to 8.3% in February from 7.6% in January, the highest rate since 1983.

Figures have been in both cases above the market consensus, unemployment rate was expected to increase to 7.9% while the drop on payrolls had been estimated around 625,000.
