FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Manufacturing business activity in the Philadelphia Fed area has shown some improvement in March yet in weak levels, as it makes the fourth consecutive month in levels below zero, according to the latest Manufacturing Survey from the Federal Reserve of Philadelphia.

The manufacturing conditions index has risen to -17.4 in March from -24.0 in February, with 55% of the firms reporting no change in activity from February, and the percentage of firms reporting decreased, 33% remained larger than the amount of firms reporting improvement; 15%.

Demand for manufactured goods rose to -9.3 from -10.9, and the current shipments index rose to -6.3 from -12.2 while the indexes of unfilled orders and delivery time have decreased from February.

The amount of firms posting decrease on employment, 20% was higher than the 15% reporting increase, and the current employment index fell to -4.7 in March from 2.5 in Feb.
