U.S. posts $180.68 billion July budget deficit
The U.S. government posted a $180.68 billion budget deficit for July, a record for the month, as outlays rose to a record level to fight a recession that continued to wither tax revenues.
The July budget gap was the 10th consecutive monthly deficit and brought the fiscal year-to-date deficit to $1.267 trillion, more than triple the deficit for the same period a year ago.
