The U.S. released the producer price index for the month of April, where the index declined by 0.1%, compared with the prior reported rise of 0.7% in March and below median estimates of a 0.1% rise, while compared with a year earlier, PPI increased by 5.5%, compared with the prior reported rise of 6.0%, and slightly below median estimates of 5.6%.

Moreover, core PPI increased in April by 0.2%, compared with the prior reported 0.1% rise and above estimates which were also set at 0.1%, while compared with a year earlier, core PPI increased by 1.0%, compared with the prior and expected rise of 0.9%.
