The U.S Department of Commerce released the advance retail sales estimates for December. Total retail sales climbed a thin 0.1 percent in December, the slowest pace in seven months, following a revised 0.4 percent climb in November, missing analysts' median estimates of 0.3 percent.

Retail sales less autos fell 0.2 percent in December, said the Commerce Department, from revised 0.3 percent in November and median estimates of 0.3 percent, while retail sales less autos fell flat in December from 0.2 percent in November, below median estimates of 0.4 percent as well.
