The U.S. released the retail sales index for the month of January, where retail sales increased by 0.5% following the prior revised drop of 0.1% and better than median estimates of 0.3%, while retail sales that exclude autos increased by 0.6% compared with the prior reported drop of 0.2% and better than median estimates of 0.5%.

Moreover, retail sales that exclude both autos and gas rose by 0.6% slightly better than the expected 0.5% and the prior reported drop of 0.3% back in December.
