FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Consumer sentiment in the United States continues falling to historically low levels, reaching, in December the lowest level since 2005 according to the consumer confidence survey by Reuters / University of Michigan.

In December, the consumer sentiment index has decreased to 74.5 from the already low 76.1 posted in November, a figure somewhat weaker than the 75.0 expected by the analysts.

The main sub-indexes of this composite gauge have declined as well, thus the current expectations index has decreased to 63.2 from 66.2 while the current conditions index edged down to 9.1 from 92.5 on the previous month.

The one year inflation forecast has risen to 3.5% from 3.4% on the previous month, while the ficve year inflation forecast rose to 3.1% from 2.9%.
