FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Consumer climate is not at its best moment in the United States, University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index has deteriorated to its lowest level in almost 30 years, according to preliminary estimations by the University of Michigan.

The mid May Consumer sentiment index has declined to 59.5 from 62.6 in April, a sharper than expected decline, as experts had advanced a softer decline to around 62.5.

Down to sub indexes, the decline has been widespread, as the current situation index has fallen to 71.7 in May from 77.0 in April, and the expectations index has gone down to 51.7 in May from 53.3 in April.
