U.S. says Oracle, Sun deal does not hurt competition
Oracle Corp's acquisition of Sun Microsystems would not be anticompetitive and consumers would have a variety of database products from which to choose, the U.S. Justice Department's antitrust division said on Monday.
The deal, which has already received U.S. approval, is facing tougher hurdles in Europe.
We remain hopeful that the parties and the EC (European Commission) will reach a speedy resolution that benefits consumers in the Commission's jurisdiction, Molly Boast, deputy assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's antitrust division, said in a statement.
