‘This Is Us’ Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 5 Photos, Promo Video Released

“This Is Us” Season 2 is all about the surprises. Kate is pregnant, and Kevin started taking painkillers even though he didn’t want to be on the meds. In episode 5, at least one of them will open up about their secrets.

“Kate surprises Toby at work,” the synopsis for the NBC drama teases. Luckily, the promo video makes it clear that Kate (Chrissy Metz) tells Toby (Chris Sullivan) the big news. However, his reaction isn’t shown. He and Kate have only been together for a year. Is he ready for a baby?

It looks like Kate might need some people to talk to about her pregnancy (which is high risk due to her age and weight). In some of the photos from “This Is Us” Season 2, episode 5, Kate is shown in what appears to be group therapy or some kind of support group. Even if Toby takes the news well, it’s still going to be a big adjustment for Kate. Metz teased that it will definitely affect their relationship.

“Kate and Toby have gone through a lot together, but they’re stronger than they have been perceived in a lot of ways,” the actress told Entertainment Weekly. “But things are going to definitely change in their relationship, and they’re going to come up against some issues that are going to challenge the relationship. Truly, truly challenge the relationship.”

While Kate will be around, next week’s episode, titled “Brothers,” seems to largely focus on Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley). The boys will be spending time together in both the past and the present.

Kev will head back to the east coast for a special event. “Kevin and Randall attend a charity fundraiser for Sophie's hospital,” the summary reveals. It sounds like it should be a fun night, but both of the Pearson men have been under a lot of stress.

In the promo video, Randall’s foster daughter Deja (Lyric Ross) asks to come to the charity fundraiser. With her erratic behavior, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) isn’t sure that’s a good idea, but Randall really wants to take the opportunity to bond with Deja.

Kevin, meanwhile, doesn’t seem focused on reuniting with her girlfriend Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) in the commercial. He wants more pills. He is seen on the phone with a pharmacist. “I understand you’ve already refilled the prescription one more time than you should’ve, but you can’t help a guy when he’s in pain?” he asks.

In the past, Kevin (Parker Bates) and Randall (Lonnie Chavis) go camping with Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), but the boys look pretty unenthused in the photos below. The trip leaves Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Kate (Mackenzie Hancsicsak) to bond at home, but something interrupts their mother-daughter time. “Jack takes the boys on a camping trip, leaving Rebecca to deal with some unexpected news,” the synopsis hints.

The promo video reveals that Jack’s father is dying. It seems Rebecca has never met the man before, so she introduces herself to him in the commercial. Will Jack get to see his father before he passes?

“This Is Us” Season 2, episode 5 airs Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
