The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced it will auction $40 billion in four-week bills at tomorrow's sale of the securities.
Four-week bills are re-issues of previoulsy sold six-month bills. The securities sold tomorrow will carry an original issue date of Oct. 2., 2011, settle March 22, and mature April 19.
The Committee on Uniform Security Indentification Procedures (CUSIP) number will be 9127955j6.
The bills are sold on discounted basis and not eligible for the Treasury Direct program for individual investors because of the short period between the offering and the auction.
A week ago, the Treasury offered $40 billion in four-week bills at Tuesday's auction at a high rate of 0.070 percent, received bids totaling $161.86 billion and accepted $40.00 billion.
