This weekend was perfect for Manchester United. Arsenal lost to Swansea, Chelsea were beaten by the Hammers and City were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton. The only thing that could’ve made it better for United was if City lost to the Toffees. Elsewhere, Liverpool beat Southampton and QPR were held by Villa.
5) Tim Howard – The American shot stopper kept Manchester City out, time and time again until Carlos Tevez scored a cool penalty. Without Howard, Everton would have surely been out of the match after twenty minutes. Howard is one of the Toffee’s key players and along with Baines and Fellaini, he will help his team challenge for the Champions League. Everton were unlucky not to take all three points as City’s penalty was very controversial. But that’s football and Everton will be back next week keen to get back to winning ways.
Fischer is a Danish international as he made his senior appearance for the Scandinavian earlier this year. Before that, he was in the under 16, 17, 19 and 21 for Denmark where he scored a combined number of 27 goals in 47 games. No wonder Denmark wanted him to make his senior debut. As Fischer joined the Ajax youth system, he attracted attention from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter Milan. But Fischer made his Ajax debut this season and since he has played five games, scoring two goals.
Now contract talks have halted and Fischer is attracting the attention of even bigger clubs in Manchester United and Real Madrid. But which club should he join and which club needs his services?
This weekend kicked off with Sunderland hosting West Brom. A dismal performance from Simon Mingolet led to Sunderland ultimately losing to the Baggies. QPR began the weekend without a manager against SAF’s United. Although QPR took the lead, United were never going to lose against a manager less team.
5) Jermain Defoe – The English centre forward was vital in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over West Ham. He scored the first in the 45th minute and after Bale’s goal, he scored Spurs’ third in the 64th minute. Under AVB he has been one of the best players in the league. It’s a shame he didn’t get as much playing time under Harry Redknapp. Even under Roy Hodgson at England, Defoe has been on top form. It’s form that Spurs need out of Defoe as AVB is determined to play 4-5-1. Defoe is definitely the man on form for Spurs and he’ll do all he can to stay ahead of Adebayor in the line-up.
When Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a youngster, he was on the verge of signing for Arsenal. But Wenger thought he wasn’t worth his price tag. Ever since, Arsenal have been kicking themselves as the Swede has majorly influenced some of the World’s greatest teams.
Now Ibrahimovic plays for French side PSG but Ligue 1 football is at such a poor standard, Ibrahimovic could be on the way out an into England. But which English club should sign the Swede?
Chelsea are in desperate need for another striker. There’s no doubt they have the money for him and a partnership with Fernando Torres would be epic. If Pep Guardiola is given the Chelsea job, Ibrahimovic may move to London and to Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal could do with a new star. They’ve struggled since they sold their last key player, Robin van Persie. Ibrahimovic would be astonishing brilliant at the Emirates but I would have thought that Arsenal’s ambitions won’t match Ibrahimovic’s.
Match Day twelve began with the North-London derby. A fantastic match with Arsenal triumphing over Spurs 5-2. Whilst Chelsea and Manchester United lost at West Brom and Norwich respectively, Manchester City took the opportunity to take top spot for the first time this season. But which players made the top 5 this week?
5) Shane Long – Amazingly West Brom sit 4th in the Barclays Premier League. Who’d have thought we’d be saying that last year? Shane Long’s influence on the team’s run has been sublime. He keeps breaking into the top 5 because of his goal return and assists. He puts in so much effort weak-in-weak-out. Not many players have the same work ethic as Long and they could certainly learn from the Irishman.
