Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings Preview, Where To Watch Online: Will Houston Clinch Home Field or Will Minnesota Stay in the Playoff Hunt?

If the playoffs ended today it wouldn’t be any sweat for the Houston Texans. Coming off a 29-17 victory at home last week against the feisty Indianapolis Colts, the Texans have already clinched their division and are completely in control of their playoff position. All any football team could ever ask for from a season is being in control of their destiny come playoff time, and that’s exactly where the Texans are.

If Houston wins today against the Vikings then they clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs. If they lose, however, then they’ll have to wait for either the Patriots or the Broncos to lose.

It shouldn’t be a terribly difficult task, seeing as how Houston has been dominant as of late and has managed to run a steady course throughout the entire season. Facing the Vikings at home is a nice place to be this late in the season when you’ve gone 6-1 so far on your own field. Then again, this is the NFL, and this is crunch time.

Dallas Tops Pittsburgh In Overtime To Set Up a 3-Way Tie in the NFC East

Dallas Tops Pittsburgh In Overtime To Set Up a 3-Way Tie in the NFC East

It was a hard fight in Dallas on Sunday as two of the most successful teams in NFL history battled it out for a sliver of hope in making the playoffs.

Both teams entered the contest with a record of 7-6, and for the majority of the first half it was a slugging match on defense as both teams had trouble getting the ball into the end zone. The Cowboys drove the ball 56 yards on their first possession but had to settle for a field goal after a dropped pass by Dez Bryant. Consequently, Rob Ryan’s defensive unit kept the always-explosive Pittsburgh offense from dropping the hammer.

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was playing only his second game since recovering from a shoulder injury, often times had to evade the oncoming blitz (which is arguably his strongest attribute, avoiding the sack) and toss it up, as he so often likes to do in the wake of a failed blitz. Sometimes, he was even forced to run it himself. As a result, the Steelers accumulated only 58 yards on their first three possessions combined. On their fourth drive they managed to get the ball within range for kicker Shaun Suisham to punch it in for 3 points.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Preview, Where To Watch Online Livestream And 3 Keys for a Lions Upset

In all likelihood the Detroit Lions will miss the playoffs. It’s been a disappointing season for a team that was largely viewed as on the rise after last season. This year however, is much different. 4-8 for last place in a division that has the Vikings is not a good place for any team to be, especially a team like the Lions with the awesome spot talent they have.

Nevertheless, this continues to be one of the best division rivalries in the NFL. Detroit’s Ndamakong Suh is a beastly player, and he tends to play his beastliest when playing Green Bay (he stomps on heads). So, you can most definitely expect a highly physical game as both teams have ridiculously underperforming defenses anchored by consistent players.

Texas Rangers Free Agency Rumors: Zack Greinke, Josh Hamilton, or Justin Upton... Who Will Texas Choose?

Texas Rangers Free Agency Rumors: Zack Greinke, Josh Hamilton, or Justin Upton... Who Will Texas Choose?

The Winter meetings have come and gone. The annual event was held this year in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel, where owners, general managers, and agents wined and dined each other for 4 straight nights.

Last year in Dallas the Los Angeles Angels completely stole the show by signing Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson to record contracts. The latter was of course expected, but the former was a would-be stake in the hearts of both the Texas Ranger organization as well as every Ranger fan in the land.

This time of year far too many people pay too much attention to the wrong numbers. The contracts tend to dominate the discussion at the winter meetings. So, when a deal is made like the one the Angels made with Pujols, who was coming off his worst season, everyone lauds the Angels an instant contender. No mind is paid to his steadily declining numbers and the fact that Angel Stadium is a pretty solid pitcher’s park. No comparison is made to the infamous contract Texas gave Alex Rodriguez in 2001 outside of the fact that they are roughly for the same amount of money and years.

Kansas City Chiefs Rise Above Belcher Tragedy, Earn 2nd Win

The Chiefs went into Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers with a grim weight to carry. It was only the day before that linebacker Jovan Belcher had shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, before traveling to the Chiefs practice facility, thanking head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli for their help and faith in him… and then turning the gun on himself.

The murder happened in the presence of Perkins’ own mother, and the suicide happened in the presence of Crennel and Pioli.
