Liverpool News: Liverpool FC fans not impressed by FSG and John W Henry Public Relations Letter.

By Kevin Morley. So we now know that John W Henry is 'disappointed' that Liverpool did not make further additions to the playing staff at the end of the transfer window.  In an open letter to fans the Principal Owner of Liverpool Football Club talked of 'how hard everybody had pushed' but that, ultimately, they could not conculde "acceptable" deals.  If this letter was meant in any way as a response to the Liverpool fans, and most of the footballing media, describing the culmination to the transfer deadline day as a complete fiasco, and likening FSG to previous owners Hicks and Gillette then it has done nothing to appease those fans.  In fact, this public relations exercise has opened an even greater divide between the clubs supporters and their absent owners.

Liverpool News: Arsenal expose Liverpool weaknesses in disappointing defeat for Brendan Rodgers Reds.

By Kevin Morley.

Last season Arsenal came to Anfield and were outplayed, outfought, out thought and out of the game for most of the ninety minutes.  This season's Anfield encounter was a different story as the away side subjected Liverpool to a tactical lesson yesterday.  The end result was the same as last time, with the Londoners coming away from Anfield with another three points.

Compared with this clash last season, the result was the only similarity. Liverpool fielded only four of the players who overran Arsenal back in March. Arsenal had only three players who managed an unlikely victory last time. Liverpool had a new manager and new tactical approach but none of this made any difference as Liverpool were overran this time.

They say you get what you pay for.  This is often proven to be as true in football as it is life in general.  It therefore follows that, if you pay nothing, you get nothing.  That was exactly what Liverpool football club got on transfer deadline day - absolutely nothing.  It was, in fact, far worse than that as three first team players were allowed to leave with no replacements coming in.

At the very least, and it was the very least, the Liverpool fans expected Clint Dempsey to be arriving at Anfield before the night was out.  The player had said he wanted to go to Liverpool, Chairman Tom Werner said he wanted him back in May, confirming "...any team would be lucky to have Clint Dempsey...", and Brendan Rodgers confirmed we had enquired about his situation weeks ago.  Yet, here we are on September 1st and, Clint Dempsey has signed for Tottenham for the huge sum of £6m - no, there is not a zero missing, Clint Dempsey went for £6m, a sum Liverpool could not, or would not, match.

They say that when a manager does not fancy you any longer then it is time to move on.  History is littered with players who have tried to stay in these circumstances, only to become more frustrated at watching their value dwindle and their careers suffer.  Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that, despite the positive attitude he has shown in training, he just does not fancy Andy Carroll.

Rodgers confirmed yesterday that, having added three new faces to the squad, Liverpool are now in a position where they need to sell to buy.  This only makes matters worse for Andy Carroll as he is seen as one of the few expendable, saleable assets at the club.

Liverpool News: Theo Walcott to Liverpool FC

Liverpool News: Theo Walcott to Liverpool FC.

Brendan Rodgers wants players at Liverpool who 'want to play for the club.'  Given this, it is easy to see why he would be interested in adding Theo Walcott to the Liverpool squad.  Walcott is another one of those boyhood Liverpool fans, an admirer of the club who has visited Anfield with opposition sides and no doubt envied the support offered by the Liverpool faithful.

Speculation about Liverpool's interest in Walcott has been present since the early Summer and it appears that the players contractual issues with Arsenal mean they are now ready to admit defeat and move the player on.  Should Liverpool want the player, which it seems they do, they will be knocking at an open door.
