It was always going to be a thriller at Mestalla when Barcelona arrived, and so it proved as the Catalans were made to equalize on two occasions to claim a draw against league leaders Valencia.

Valencia took the lead when Eric Abidal scored an own goal early in the game. However, drew level shortly thereafter through Pedro. In the 23rd minute, Unai Emery's side took the lead for a second time, as Pablo Hernandez scored.

The lead stood till late in the game although with 13 minutes remaining the Catalans equalized through new signing Cesc Fabregas.

Valencia finished with ten-men as defender Jordi Alba saw a late red card.

The equalizer ensured that Barca remain unbeaten so far, while it also ruined Valencia's perfect start to the season.
