“Vampire Diaries” and “Walking Dead” actress Shannon Rogers Guess has made headlines after accusing her husband of sending ricin to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Obama. In an unsuspected twist, her estranged husband, Nathaniel Richardson, is now claiming that he’s been set up by his pregnant wife.

Guess, 36, reported her Army veteran husband to authorities when she discovered a container of ricin in her Texarkana, Texas, home last week. “She thought he was injecting it into her food and drinks,” Guess’ 19-year-old son, Branden, revealed to the New York Post. “She told me she was trying to be as careful as possible. She didn’t eat unless it was straight from the store to her hand, basically.” Her fears were fueled when the couple’s home computer turned up searches for how to make ricin and an order for castor beans.

Turning her husband in, authorities were unable to hold Richardson due to lack of evidence. Richardson is now claiming that the couple filed for divorce and that his wife set him up.

“He told them we filed [for divorce], but we haven’t yet. But after all this, I will be soon,” said Shannon Guess. She added that her soon to be ex-husband is “racist and hates Obama.”

According to Yahoo TV, police brought in Guess for questioning after Richardson insisted that he doesn’t use credit cards -- which is how the castor beans were purchased. The actress denied the claims, saying that she “didn’t do anything,” and that she had been out of her house for a few days before discovering the ricin. She continued that any accusations against her regarding the ricin attacks are “absolutely not true.” The pair reportedly underwent polygraph tests but the results are currently unknown.

As we previously reported, a letter laced with ricin was sent to Mayor Bloomberg, and another suspicious letter was sent to President Obama. One letter, sent from Shreveport, La., read that “You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone wants to come to my house will be shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God-given right, and I will exercise that right ‘til the day I die. What’s in this letter is nothing compared to what I’ve got planned for you.”

Wetpaint.com reports that Guess and Richardson live approximately 100 miles from Shreveport. The post office at the location handles mail from parts of Texas and Arkansas.

Nathaniel Richardson is also a known gun owner. A family friend revealed to the New York Post that the Army vet used to have “dozens of pictures of his guns” on his Facebook page, but that they have been taken down. Meanwhile, Shannon Guess has also posed in photos with a gun.
