Thanks to the Mystic Falls crew heading off to college, “The Vampire Diaries” will be introducing some fresh new faces in season fiveKendrick Sampson and Olga Fonda.

Sampson has starred on “Greek” as Woodchuck, and guest-starred on “CSI” and “Days Of Our Lives.” Fonda may be recognized from her minor roles on TV series like “Nip Tuck,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Entourage,” “Melrose Place,” and “Nikita.”

Both Kendrick Sampson and Olga Fonda will be joining the “Vampire Diaries” as recurring characters in season five. Sampson will be playing Jesse, a character that has Forwood and Klaroline fans in a tizzy. According to a report on TVLine.com, viewers will meet Jesse at Whitmore College. The upperclassman, who is described as “hot, smart, confident and disarmingly sweet,” will catch the eye of Caroline. Unfortunately Jesse isn’t vampire-friendly.

Fonda will also be catching the eye of a character – or two. TVGuide.com reports that she’ll be playing a “mysterious European beauty who follows Rebekah and Matt back to Mystic Falls.” Previous spoilers have the character named Nadia, although the name could potentially be changing. Nadia is teased to be “delivering an ominous warning to Stefan about the Originals,” and while that spoiler initially had fans confused, it makes more sense now knowing that she’ll be heading to Mystic Falls.

But that’s not the only scoop we have on Olga Fonda’s character. At the “Vampire Diaries” Convention in Parsippany, N.J., on Saturday, Matt’s Zach Roerig revealed a few intriguing spoilers that seem to apply to Fonda’s Nadia. Roerig told fans that filming for season five began on Wednesday, and the first scene he shot had him in bed with two women – a vampire and a gypsy!

As fans of the CW series know, season four ended with Matt telling Rebekah that he’d head off to Europe with her. The pair will be in Prague when they run into Fonda’s character.

Zach Roerig also teased at the convention that the “third party” in his bed will stick around town and end up becoming “good” friends with Matt – emphasis on the “good.” “The Vampire Diaries” returns to the CW for its fifth season on Oct. 10.
