“The Vampire Diaries” has been on hiatus for the past couple weeks, but fans are in for a treat this week – because the CW series is back with an all-new episode! Episode 18, “Resident Evil,” will air on April 17, and we’ve got a sneak-peek video you won’t want to miss.

“Thought you were bringing a witch,” Enzo says as he greets Caroline and Elena in the clip from episode 18. The trio is at the Salvatore mansion, where it sounds as if the girls were supposed to bring Liv along.

“We said we’d call her,” Caroline counters, throwing her jacket at him. “We didn’t say we’d pick her up.”

And while the gang seems to be together to settle some supernatural business, Elena can’t help but ask about her ex.

“So, where’s …uh, Damon?” she questions Enzo. But the Augustine vampire need not respond, because Damon makes his presence known. “Hi,” he says huskily as the two have an awkward stare-down. But fortunately the former lovers don’t have to worry about an uncomfortable conversation in front of their friends, because Enzo and Caroline ditch them as soon as possible.

“So, who could use a drink from the library?” Enzo begins to ask. And before he’s even finished with the offer, Caroline’s already making her way into the other room.

“Well, at least they are not being obvious,” Elena laughs, trying to break the ice with her ex. But Damon doesn’t appear to be smiling.

As we previously reported, the upcoming episode will introduce new Travelers villain Markos, and put the Damon-Elena-Stefan love triangle in another awkward position. Thanks to the Travelers and their odd obsession with the doppelgangers, Elena and Stefan will begin having “unsettling dreams of an alternate version of the life they might have had together.” While this is definitely good news for Stelena shippers, the hot and steamy alternate world will be a knife in the back for Delena fans, who are still hurting from Damon and Elena’s recent breakup.

Meanwhile, “Vampire Diaries” viewers can also look forward to seeing Bonnie’s Grams pay a visit from the other side; learn a little bit more about Enzo and his plans; and get to the bottom of what Liv and Luke have against Markos and the Travelers.
