Damon must search for Stefan in episode 2 of "The Vampire Diaries." CW

“Vampire Diaries” fans (in the New York tri-state area) are FREAKING OUT right now. Episode 2 of season 5, “True Lies,” was supposed to air at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 10 … but instead the CW 11 has the New York Giants Vs. Chicago Bears game coming on at 8:30 p.m.

During the season premiere of “The Vampire Diaries,” Elena and Caroline moved into the dorms at Whitmore College in an attempt to lead normal lives. Their plan, however, received a slight jolt when their third roommate turned out to be a girl named Megan instead of Bonnie. Megan didn’t last too long, though. By the end of the episode someone (a vampire) at a house party pushed Megan out a window … resulting in her untimely death. The twist? The campus police are calling it a suicide.

Meanwhile, back in Mystic Falls, Silas exposed himself as Stefan’s doppelganger and revealed that he had Stefan holed up somewhere. Slitting the throat of Bonnie’s dad, Silas compelled the whole town to go on a search … a search for human Katherine.

Episode 2, “True Lies,” was supposed to find Damon enlisting the help of Sheriff Forbes to find Stefan. Elena’s still unaware that her former beau is missing, and instead is investigating Megan’s murder cover-up with Caroline. Meanwhile, Jeremy is still the only one that can see Bonnie and is struggling to convince her to reveal to everyone that she’s dead.

Not all fans are missing “The Vampire Diaries” at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. Viewers with access to the CW Philly can watch the episode at the usual time. Those that cannot watch the episode due to the football game can view it online at the CW on Friday, Oct. 11, or when the CW airs it at a special time on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m.
